Where does Europe start; Life along the Schengen border

Very soon we are going to meet for the youth exchange “Where does Europe start; Life along the Schengen border”. Before that we would like to inform you about the necessary details for this project and its programme. Please, have a few minutes and read the following.

About the Project

Project: " Where does Europe start; Life along the Schengen border " is a 1.1 youth exchange, an European event combining European citizenship, the importance of European awareness, creative thinking and ability to work in multicultural teams.

The project will be held in village Žetale, between 10. and 18. August 2010. Participants will come from the Netherlands, Portugal, Latvia, Bulgaria, Greece and Slovenia. The groups will be consisting of 2 men and 2 women + 1 youth leader per country. Divided into nationally mixed groups, the participants will be discussing the importance of the European citizenship and the meaning of borders. The participation in the activities of the exchange will provide an interesting and beneficial insight into the cultural preservation and hospitality of our countries, our differences and perception of the European union. Participants will be actively involved in the process of getting to know other's cultures, shattering stereotypes and prejudices about certain cultures, creating a desired European citizenship and involving awareness about ecological problems. During the event a simulation will also be held: "Žetale, a perfect village” , where the participants will be able to think creatively how to build an ideal village where all people would have jobs and ideal style of living. Our aim is to provide a platform where participants can meet, discuss topics, exchange ideas and build a basis for future cooperation.
